Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, it’s time to begin exploring desserts for the winter holidays. Did you know that eggnog is not only a delicious drink but an excellent ingredient in baked goods? Simply use it in place of cream or milk in a recipe and voila!
Here are a few great examples of eggnog desserts.
Let’s start with the most basic: homemade eggnog. Everything is better homemade and eggnog is no exception. What many don’t realize is that it’s an incredibly easy to make! You can use either homemade or store-bought eggnog in any dessert recipe.
Eggnog Cupcakes with Rum Buttercream
These cupcakes are perfect for holiday parties. The yellow eggnog cake is moist and flavorful. The rum buttercream is made Italian meringue style for a frosting that melts in your mouth like butter.
Eggnog Ice Cream
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy ice cream during the fall and winter months. This eggnog ice cream is creamy, rich and delicious. Put on a sweater and enjoy!
Eggnog Bavarian Cream Cake
Bavarian cream is similar to crème pâtissière, or pastry cream, but it is thickened with gelatin instead of flour or cornstarch. Whipped cream is folded in just before the gelatin sets to lighten the consistency. This recipe combines the classic bavarian with eggnog and chocolate lady fingers to create a decadent cake.
