A set like this would make my husband flip upside-down and backwards! He’d love it!
How simple and healthy life could be if only more people could leave behind the world of “processed” and “pre-packaged” and get back to good, wholesome basics to discover that “do-it-yourself” is both fun and utterly rewarding. One of the best things about the end of summer was the glut of ripe tomatoes from our garden. I remember helping my mom jar them and storing them for the coming winter months. I would love to be able to store the ketchup. I make it now, but because I don’t have a canning set can only make one jar at a time–2 week shelf life.

Love canning season!!! Have already done the “dilly beans” and will be canning right through the season until the last green tomato comes in. Thanks for a great giveaway chance!
I’ve canned a couple thing already – cherry rhubarb jam and strawberry jam. What I am really looking forward to canning, though, is a new recipe I found for strawberry peach jam.
I grew up canning with my grandmother. She canned everything from icicle pickles to tomato butter and pears and peaches. Not only do I have great memories of canning with my grandmother, but also great memories of eating the canned goods with her in the winter. There is nothing that compares to her canned pears and peaches!
I’ve already canned Strawberry-Lemonade Concentrate, Strawberry Jam, Sweet Cherry Jam and Preserves, Whole Sweet Cherries and Strawberry-Lemon Marmalade. I am currently making Raspberry Jam and will also can whole raspberries and raspberry pie filling. Next will be tart cherries, peaches, nectarines and blueberries. Come fall, will be grapes and apples. From my garden, I will can tomatoes, tomato sauce, pasta sauce, salsa, and I will try my hand at green beans. I LOVE summertime in Michigan!!!

I am looking forward to doing some canning of my own. I go to the local farmer’s markets each week with a few of my friends and shop for whatever is in season. One of them has a garden and has already shared zucchini, basil, dill, and kale with me. Last week she gave me some salsa that she made that was DELISH!
I would also visit the “pick your own” farm nearby and get peaches and other fruits to make jams. Please select me! I love WS. Thank you.
I’ve already put up a bushel of peaches and several pounds of blueberries! (Here in the south, our fruit comes in early.) Would also love to do some onion jam and pickles.

I make ALL low sugar jams, just our family preference. I canned a peach-mango salsa for the first time this past weekend and I’m gonna make pickles too as soon as they are ready in the garden. I’m afraid once I started this madness, I can’t stop. I’m addicted! I would love to win this!!!!

I am so looking forward to making and canning some pickles. It’s been about 30 years since I last made them and I want to start canning with my daughter.
I would love to learn to can. My Grandmother canned pickled beets, piccalilli, bread and butter pickles, pepper relish and vegetables, they looked so beautiful and tasted amazing. Each jar she took out to serve, was like a present to our Family, you could see the pride in her face. My Great Aunt Marion made the most delicious strawberry rhubarb jam! My mouth is watering just thinking of her strawbwrry rhubarb jam on a piece of toast. These are wonderful memories of our senses, taste, smell, seeing and hearing, that bring us right back to when we enjoyed them and the people we enjoyed them with. <3

I am looking forward to canning tomato basil sauce and jalapeno jelly. A little bit of a sun-kissed summer to eat in the winter.
We’ve got a lot of plums around here during the summer season – a beautiful variety called “beet plum” for its gorgeous deep red color and delicious sweet and sour flavor. I purchased 4 kilos of the fresh fruit and fixed a very nice marmalade – several bottles full – to make sure all my relatives and friends around here get to sample this delicacy.
Another preserve I’ll prepare is a mixture of a type of jalapeño pepper – a large variety called “cuaresmeño”, deep green-colored and mild-flavored – with fresh carrots. Cut into thin, long, strips and pickled for a few days with a special fine-herb marinade makes for mouth-watering, spicy, salad, just excellent for enhancing meat or poultry dishes.
Pickled green tomatoes and tomatillo sauce!!
I will be making rose geranium jelly from the leaves of my collection of rose scented geraniums. It is so delicate and delicious and the color of a peach’s blush. The only way to get it is to make your own.
