I too am very disappointed that there is not an actual Thanksgiving Brochure. I have been cooking out of it and getting inspired for many years. It is something I always look forward to. I hope it comes back.
Hi,
I am also very disappointed in not picking up my 2015 brochure in the store. I have collected this from the beginning and it is something I look forward to picking up in your store, while buying the items that you suggest in the brochure to use for the Thanksgiving dinner. Please re-think the reasoning behind doing it this way. I receive many catalogs throughout the year in the mail from you and this could be replaced by one during this time of year. Thank you, Lorie

Wow.
Just…wow.
I can’t imagine the overwhelming feedback at W-S HQ is positive about this.
If the issue was “saving paper” then the catalogs and the cooking handouts would also be paperless. But they are not, so I can’t see that paper is the issue. Also, making it downloadable on PDF would be just as paperless, but I don’t see that anywhere.
That a flipbook has some bells-and-whistles benefits…OK, fine. But I can’t see that clicking on a link compensates for the lack of a print version.Again, this would also be possible with a PDF, an INFINITELY friendlier format. Will the flipbook stay up online forever so we can refer to it in 2018 like a hard copy would? Kinda doubt it.
Try as I might, I can’t figure out the upside to Williams-Sonoma of doing the Thanksgiving brochure this year. It’s not the paperless thing, it’s not the ease of use thing…so what can it be?
Whatever it is, it’s a serious step back and like everyone else, I’m very disappointed and hope this doesn’t happen again next year.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, Daniel — we’ll be sure to pass them along.
Happy you guys are saving paper!
Glad you feel the same way, Colleen!
Two things:
Like everyone else commenting above me, I’m VERY disappointed the annual Thanksgiving guide is not available in printed, booklet form as has been “since forever.” In my opinion, this is a rare error by W-S. My mom and aunt, who are 82 and 86 respectively, always make it a point of incorporating suggestions from “this year’s booklet” into the dinner. But (as you can imagine) they are NOT tech-friendly people. This format of brochure does not work for them at all.
Which brings me to my second point. This blog entry instructs readers to go to https://www.williams-sonoma.com/pages/thanksgiving-brochure.html and “Download and print our 2015 Thanksgiving brochure.”
Only I couldn’t. It’s an online flipbook (which is fine) but that’s all there is, and after nearly 2 hours all I can do is print out blank pages with the title of the brochure on the header, and the URL of the flipbook at the footer.
I can’t even download a PDF and print it and give it to my mom and aunt. So, unless I’m there, with my laptop (a tablet won’t display the full page at a large enough size) they can’t see what’s there, and this further requires Wi-Fi availability to accomplish, to say nothing of a lengthy session.
Anyone who wants to see a specific recipe has to click, and if you want to see another, you have to click again until a number of windows or tabs are open. This just means that many people can’t use the brochure at all and many more of us won’t.
This is what in my field we call “an unforced error.” People who are steadfast W-S loyalists are now unhappy and frustrated.
Please reconsider correcting this mistake for next year.
You’re correct that the brochure is not “downloadable” in its current format, but it should be printable in a browser like Safari or Chrome. Thanks very much for your feedback, though – we’re passing it along.
Thank you for passing it on. (We all realize the person(s) handling feedback on the blog and social media have no responsibility for this decision. We’re all big fans of the brand, which is why it matters to us.)
Thanks again!
What? No Thanksgiving Booklet in the Stores?
I’m crushed! Bring Back the Thanksgiving Booklet!!!!
We’ll pass along your message!
I was very disappointed when I went into the store and found out that the Thanksgiving booklet was not available this year. It had become a tradition to pick it up and start my Thanksgiving season. I hope you’ll reconsider for next year.
Thanks for offering your honest feedback. We’ll pass it along.
I went to my local store and was told they did not have the booklet this year. I was sad. Hope you consider bring it back. Very handy and I have the ones from previous years. Thank you.
So sorry to see that WS no longer offers this in you little booklet form; it is a lovely resource to have. Some of us still like hands on including books.
I hope that next session you will go back to the old form.
We are definitely passing along your feedback. Thanks for sharing it!
