Check out this month’s Agrarian Almanac, a to-do list for your edible garden, chicken coops, beehives and more. It’s March — that means we’re finally welcoming spring! Time to start sowing seeds for a bountiful summer garden and harvesting the last of the winter crops (think broccoli and chard). If you’re lucky the season’s first fava beans may be ready to pick, too.
It’s also a great time to begin raising chicks, if you’re not already; if you already have a brood, the chickens will enjoy getting sunshine and exercise as the weather warms. Hives don’t need much maintenance in March, but it’s still a good idea to give them a thorough inspection. See more tips and resources here!
