Or, toast him with a Classic Margarita instead.

Happy Father’s Day! Here’s to a day filled with good food and even better company. If you’re lucky enough to be spending it with Dad, squeeze in a little extra quality time by closing out the day over one of these cocktails.

Manhattan

You can’t go wrong with a Manhattan, that classic, ultra-smooth whiskey and vermouth cocktail. This recipe includes orange liqueur, which lends the cocktail even more complexity.

Impropah Scaffa

This nutty, spiritous drink—which is Boston bartender Sam Treadway’s take on an 1800s cocktail—contains brandy, maraschino and bitters, and makes for a lovely nightcap.

Maple-Bourbon Smash

Maple has become an increasingly popular sweetener in cocktails; here, its slight smokiness pairs perfectly with oaky bourbon.

Apposta

Think of the Apposta as a sweeter, more bubbly version of the classic Negroni; this highball version would be refreshing as a before-dinner drink or a sundowner.

Improved Blood and Sand

Mark our words: Charles Joly’s version of the Blood and Sand is the best rendition you’ll ever drink. The recipe dials up the proportion of Scotch and includes lemon and sweetener for a cocktail that’s more sophisticated  than the traditional version.
