In an era when so many of us host guests right in our open kitchens, it’s more crucial to pay attention to the little details. A pop of color and extraordinary design in something as simple as a toaster can make the kitchen a truly fabulous place to spend time with friends and family.
THE INSPIRATION
Bright, iconic Sicilian fruit carts are the inspiration for Dolce & Gabbana’s collaboration with SMEG. It began with an exclusive run of SMEG refrigerators that Italian artists painted by hand—a brilliant pairing of SMEG’s iconic 1950s design with Dolce & Gabbana’s whimsical ethos. Today, Williams Sonoma is proud to feature the companies’ gorgeous made-in-Italy toaster, juicer, and tea kettle. As beautiful as they are eye-catching, they’re like having fresh flowers in your kitchen every single day.
Each appliance features Sicilian foods or motifs in homage to the theme “Sicily is My Love.” (Domenico Dolce was born in Sicily.) Golden lemons, bright oranges, and ruby-red cherries adorn the products, along with ornamental friezes so typical of Southern Italy. Sailboats and happy birds make cameos on the toaster. Acanthus leaves wend their way around the sleekly designed electric tea kettle. The juicer—a neat, intuitive motorized number—features a trio of plump citrus and a calming mountain vignette. All three are stunning conversation pieces.
THE COLLABORATION
Each kitchen appliance was designed by SMEG, a company known for its elegant, smart products, and elaborated upon by Dolce & Gabbana. The look of each item was left to the discretion of the artist, as Christian Boscherini, Marketing and Events Specialist for SMEG USA, explained. The artists were told only to consider the design of the fruit carts people once pushed around Sicilian cities.
Colorful kitchens are in vogue right now, and these knockout appliances showcase what a pop of great design can do for your home. Learn more about the toaster, juicer and tea kettle at Williams-Sonoma.com!

Would live to see all of the smeg & dolce & gabbana colection. It is absolutely gorgeous. A must have!@
I have recentrly bought a 4 slice SMEG toaster, (not any limited edition… just the regular blue one) and I have to say that my expectations were not fulfilled at all. The toasts come out burned in the corners as opposed to the center of the toast which comes out untoasted in comparison. Also, if you don’t put the 4 slices (or 2 big toasts) inside, when the toast is finished they jump so hard that they even fly outside the toaster. And the last thing that happened is that the browning level button is not working and to change the brownning level I have to hold really tight to it and try to spin the button to the desired level, which is totally unpractical on busy mornings.
I wish I had the results I was epxecting with this toaster. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recomment it at all.
