If you’re gathering your friends and family around the fireplace this Christmas Eve, consider serving glasses of an old-fashioned milk punch, which combines dairy and some kind of alcohol, often rum. Here, allspice dram and nutmeg give milk punch a holiday flair. St. Elizabeth allspice dram is stocked at most well-stocked liquor stores.
Allspice Milk Punch
1 oz. (30 ml) aged rum
1/2 oz. (15 ml) bourbon
1/2 oz. (15 ml) brandy
1/4 oz. (7 ml) allspice dram
4 oz. (125 ml) milk
1 oz. (30 ml) heavy cream
Freshly grated nutmeg for garnish
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the rum, bourbon, brandy, allspice dram, milk and cream. Shake until well chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into a tumbler filled with ice and garnish with the nutmeg. Makes 1 drink.
