What is it about the new year that has us ready to get organized? We’re thrilled to bring back our iconic brand, Hold Everything, with all the smart storage solutions you need. It’ll help you keep your resolutions, tackle kitchen headaches, and make your life and your home more user-friendly. Hold Everything will be key to organizing your pantry, drawers, and countertops. It’s a super-versatile new collection inspired by catalog archives featuring some of our all-time favorite products.
We’re thrilled to partner with home organizing expert Shira Gill for this beloved brand. Shira’s genius five-step methodology from her new book, Minimalista, is simply: 1) Clarify, 2) Edit, 3) Organize, 4) Elevate and 5) Maintain.
“Setting up your home deliberately is an important form of self-care and a way of taking care of yourself and the people you live with,” says Shira. Agreed! She puts her methodology to work with our cool new line. Here’s how it aligns with her professional organizational prowess.
1. Clarify
“What do you care about deeply?” asks Shira. “In order to determine what you don’t want, you have to clarify what you want most.” So look around at your kitchen, the first room we’re tackling with Hold Everything, and get yourself a goal. Maybe it’s a big goal like learning how to cook like a pro, or creating a space you are proud to host in. Maybe it’s small: a fridge that things don’t fall out of when you open it. (We can help with that!)
Do you want to open your pantry cabinet doors to see each of your nine cereals in its own bin? Clear or opaque? What’s your dream scenario? Looking around and taking stock will add clarity to can inform later decisions, like whether you want these gorgeous stacking glass canisters.
2. Edit
“Organized clutter is still clutter!” says Shira. It may seem obvious, but really look around your kitchen before diving into our line. It’s a space that has plenty of room for Shira’s patented “15-minute wins,” or speedy home-organizing sessions, during which you can, say, toss or donate any flatware that no longer works for you. (How did the hammer sneak into the knife and serving spoon drawer, anyway?)
“Subtract the items that don’t serve or support your vision,” says Shira.
3. Organize
Shira’s a big fan of “elevating the hidden spaces in your home.” As she explains, “Hold Everything makes the process especially easy because it provides all the tools I need to do just that.”
“Organization is not about perfectionism,” she explains Shira. “It’s about being intentional and purposeful with your space, paring down to the essentials, then organizing them with simplicity, style, and quality in mind.” That sounds doable.
4. Elevate
“Add only things that improve your space and get you closer to your big goals,” says Shira. Think: simple but purposeful.
5. Maintain
“Implement some simple daily habit shifts so you can maintain your hard work,” suggests Shira. “Anyone at any age can learn how to organize their home.”
Doesn’t it all sound so doable? It really is. Shira’s that good. Check out her book for more, and stay tuned for her 15-minute organizing wins in your kitchen. (Junk drawer: She’s coming for you!)
