This week, we’re honoring the doughnut with a feature on it every single day. The fried pastry, which has seemingly overtaken pie as the “it” food of the moment, has close to seven million hashtagged images on Instagram (and counting). We combed through as much as we could to bring you a sampling of some of the craziest, most creative doughnut flavors in the country.
1. CrÚme Brûlée Doughnuts
Is there anything better than sinking your teeth into a perfectly-glazed doughnut? Maybe, if that glaze is actually a bruléed sugar topping. You can get this flavor at Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken in Washington, DC.
2. The Everything Doughnut
What happens when you cross a doughnut with an everything bagel? The “EvDo,” as it’s nicknamed, is one of the most popular flavors at The Doughnut Project, a small-batch doughnut shop in New York.Â
3. Nutella-Stuffed Hazelnut Doughnuts
At The Salty Donut Artisanal Donut Shop and Coffee Bar in Miami, you order dozens of spiked doughnut holes, like these 24-hour raised brioche doughnut holes, served with a Nutella “shooter.”
4. Tropical Fruit Doughnuts
Gin-Calamansi, Coconut-Sake-Ginger-Cardamom, and “Ube Bae” are just a few flavors of doughnuts that you might find in the rotating lineup at Brooklyn’s Manila Social Club.Â
5. Bubblegum Doughnut
Voodoo Doughnut, arguably the most famous doughnut spot on the West Coast, serves a bubblegum doughnut. Yes, it’s the shocking hot pink color that you’d expect it to beâand it apparently comes with a piece of Dubble Bubble so you can keep the bubblegum momentum going.

Wow, I love all of the ideas of all of these flavors. I want to try them all. I really like the sound of the bubble gum flavor. I will have to look around for a good shop around me to find some of these flavors.
