There is always room for dessert. It comes at the end of a meal and as a result is subject to optional status, but Amy Atlas makes dessert a must.
Based in New York City, Amy is a sweets stylist who has designed stunning, unforgettable tables for O Magazine, InStyle, New York Times and Martha Stewart Weddings. In the fashion world a stylist’s look is created by clothes, hair and makeup, but Amy’s canvas are the table and linens, serving pieces and handmade packaging for showcasing sweets.
What makes Amy Atlas such an incredible stylist is her attention to detail — there is a purpose in the overall theme for every element, right down to the ribbons and bows. In April Amy released her book Sweet Designs: Bake It, Craft It, Style It, and Williams-Sonoma has partnered with her for a nationwide book tour. In preparation, we asked Amy to style a table using our product.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how it all came together, along with a list of tour dates so you can meet Amy in person and see the dessert table she designed.
INSPIRATION: The “Picnic In The Park” table from the book was the starting point for styling our table.
FINAL SKETCH: Here is Amy’s design sketched out, incorporating Williams-Sonoma serve pieces.

About the author: Jenn Yee is a part of the Williams-Sonoma Union Square culinary team. The store is her dream kitchen. The Food Hall is her favorite section and can talk endlessly about baking mixes and bakeware. When not at work her every moment, not surprisingly, is still very much about food. She’s honing her skills at pastry school, attending food events, meeting chefs and vendors and out in search of the best pastries and desserts. She dreams of Pierre Herme macarons and Gerard Mulot croissants. www.deliciouslynoted.com.
