2016’s Charleston Wine + Food Festival in 7 Pictures

Charleston, South Carolina is a city known for its relaxed pace, coastal food and genteel charm, but this weekend, things were pretty lively, thanks to Charleston Wine + Food. We joined some of the country’s biggest chefs and food personalities to celebrate the food and drink of the region. See some of the highlights below.

 

Let’s Eat, Y’all kicked off the festival with a glass of wine. “Cheers to Charleston Wine & Food!” she wrote.

Inside The Hub at Charleston Wine + Food’s Culinary Village, members of the Williams-Sonoma Chefs’ Collective hosted a series of Kitchen Cameos. Ben Jacobsen of Jacobsen Salt Co., had a blast at I Scream, You Scream, the Bon Vivants‘ tribute to ice cream. “The guys. Killing it!” he wrote alongside a candid of Scott Baird and Josh Harris.

No, we’re not jealous at all of Saveur magazine for getting to snack on these chicken thigh sliders. In case you’re wondering who masterminded them, you can thank chef Amalia Scatena of Cannon Green in Charleston.

For her Kitchen Cameo series, CITY GRIT founder and Williams-Sonoma Chefs’ Collective member Sara Simmons hosted Not Yo Mama’s Broccoli, where she focused on showcasing vegetables in ways home cooks might never have seen (like her braised broccoli stalks with broccoli chowchow, brown butter and almonds, pictured here).

Foodiechats caught footage at the festival of grilled oysters with compound butter, just waiting to be topped with beef tartare.

Mike Anthony, executive chef at Gramercy Tavern and Untitled in New York City, caught a pic of his team in action plating crab and sunchoke salads. (That’s Gramercy Tavern chef de cuisine Howard Kalachnikoff on the left and Untitled chef de cuisine Suzanne Cupps on the right).
