Yesterday, Williams-Sonoma founder Chuck Williams passed away at the age of 100. He opened the very first Williams-Sonoma store in 1956, and lived his life to share the pleasures of cooking with others. His spirit will live on forever in our kitchens—and in our hearts.

Ever since he opened his first store in California in the fifties it was like a magnet, I couldn’t stay away. We vacationed in San Francisco area every summer for a number of years and I would manage at least a couple of trips to his store.
He brought great joy to me & my kitchen.
When the William Sonoma staff installed large piece of equipment in my kitchen I was informed by the crew that “” my kitchen looked like the back room at Williams Sonama. I always remembered that comment with a smile.
