Our next stop on the culinary cookware tour is Germany. Part of our curated assortment of European cookware, the family-owned company Berndes – founded in 1921 in Arnsberg, Germany – showcases a rigorously-tested collection of cast-aluminum cookware.
The history of legendary German engineering shines in each piece with thoughtful design, from the construction materials to the shape and functionality of the cookware’s signature removable handle.
After countless experiments with cookware coatings in the 1950s, Berndes revolutionized the cookware market in 1975 with a frying pan made of cast aluminum with an innovative nonstick coating. Carrying on that tradition, Berndes now uses PFOA-free ceramic nonstick coatings.
During production, pieces are randomly selected for rigorous testing to guarantee the most durable construction and materials.
“We test all of our products in our very own laboratory. Any aluminum castings that fail to meet our exacting standards are simply melted down again.” – Rolf Geise, Berndes Technical Director
