For our next stop on the European cookware tour we head to Northern Italy to discover the elegant and detailed copper pots of Ruffoni. Ruffoni was founded in 1962 in the beautiful lakeside town of Omegna, Italy, which is located at the base of the Alps. Omegna is known for its tradition of metalworking and coppersmiths.
The Italian attention to detail and design is demonstrated in every piece, from the molded brass handles to the hand-hammered exteriors. The traditional, nonreactive tin-lined interiors of these classic copper pieces are created by hand using a time-tested process that results in the most even heat distribution.
Beneath the original Ruffoni factory is a private collection and museum showcasing the earliest production processes and oldest antique copper pieces. It is a gorgeous sight to behold.
“Our copper pieces are made to be loved. They’ll become more and more valuable throughout the years, and will be appreciated by the next generation.”
