In honor of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London (starting today!), we’ve rounded up our favorite British recipes. Perfect for hosting a high tea or a casual meal featuring pub favorites. Whichever you choose, make sure  you do your eating in front of the telly!

Black and Tan
This British pub classic made with stout (such as Guinness) and ale (such as Bass). Tastes best when drunk from a pint glass!
Fish and Chips
Crispy battered white fish paired with oven-fried chips and a tangy tartar sauce. Don’t forget the malt vinegar for splashing on the chips.
Shepherd’s Pie
Braised lamb and vegetables topped with creamy mashed potatoes is a fantastic dish for a crowd–and a tasty way to use up leftover potatoes.
Assorted Tea Sandwiches
Platters piled high with tea sandwiches are an easy way to feed a crowd. Choose your favorites from chicken salad, cucumber and smoked salmon.
Currant Scones
These tender scones are studded with currants and lemon zest. Just the thing for a high-tea party…don’t forget the clotted cream and lemon curd.
Berry Trifle
Who can resist this towering British dessert featuring layers of pound cake stacked with whipped cream and berries? Definitely not us!
Blueberry Fool
A fool is a British dessert of pureed fruit paired with cream. This cooling treat is perfect for a warm summer night.
English Breakfast
Just the thing for watching the Games in the morning: a traditional English breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms.
