Yesterday we discussed the benefits of juicing versus blending, noting that blended smoothies provide the body with large amounts of nutrients and fiber.
Here’s another satisfying smoothie recipe from the Vitamix team. Packed with healthy vegetables and sweet, flavorful fruit, it’s the perfect way to kick off your day.
Garden Green Smoothie
1/4 cup water
1 orange, peeled, halved, seeded
1 celery stalk, halved
1 small carrot, halved
1 green apple, cored, quartered
1/2 medium zucchini, cut into large chunks
1 cup romaine lettuce
1 cup kale, spine removed
1/2 cup parsley leaves
2 cups ice cubes
Place all ingredients into the Vitamix container in the order listed and secure lid. Select Variable 1 (lowest). Switch machine to Start and slowly increase speed to Variable 8 (medium-high). Blend for 40 seconds using the tamper to press the ingredients into the blades. Makes 4 1/4 cups. Recipe by Vitamix.
