Whether you are a seasoned fan of juicing or have just hit the farmers’ market for your first bunch of kale, one of the great secrets of making creative, delicious juices is to spice them up – literally!
Adding a pinch of a spice to a juice recipe can not only kick up the flavor, but also provide additional health benefits. For example, numerous studies show turmeric has significant anti-inflammatory properties. The most common spice in the world, ground black pepper, has been used for thousands of years and is thought to aid in the absorption of other nutrients. Even cinnamon – normally associated with sugary baked treats – can pack a powerful punch, with several studies suggesting that it can have a regulatory effect on blood sugar.
As you begin to experiment with spicing up your juice recipes, start with small additions of a spice that strikes you as being interesting – a pinch here and there until you find the right balance for your palate. And when you do find something that tickles your fancy, make sure you note the quantity you used so you can recreate it and share it at Reboot Your Life.
Customizing juice to your palate or your menu will make it even easier and more fun to incorporate it into your daily life. Additionally, you’ll continue to supercharge your diet with the fruits and veggies that keep us happy, healthy and whole.
I’ve included some new recipes here. Enjoy, and juice on!
