The person who does the cooking on Thanksgiving works hard. Really hard. From getting up early to pop in the turkey, and building upper arm strength while mashing those potatoes, we think that person (is it you?) deserves a little treat. And by treat, we mean tipple.
Of course, you still have a lot of work to do, so you can’t be sipping from the bourbon bottle in the privacy of the pantry quite yet. But you can whip up a healthy, low-alcohol cocktail that will hit the spot. May we recommend the Starlight & Starbright Cocktail from Julia Momose, a superstar mixologist in Chicago and partner at Kumiko cocktail bar? It’s fresh, easy, seasonal and, with both carrot juice and orange juice included, it’s basically a smoothie.
Do one thing ahead (freeze pineapple juice in ice cube trays), and use just half of the gin the original recipe calls for, and you’ll be rewarded with a simple and elegant stir-together cocktail that will keep you steady on your feet all evening long!
