We lucked out this year since Valentine’s Day falls squarely on a weekend. Blogger, cookbook author and our all-around favorite cook-next-door, Gaby Dalkin, is taking advantage of the leisurely weekend morning and planning ahead for breakfast in bed. “Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday this year so I’ll be celebrating in bed with my one true love – carbs!! And also chocolate. My husband Thomas is welcome to join me for breakfast too.” Here are the recipes she’ll be enjoying:
Chocolate–Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread

Valentine’s Day provides just the excuse you need to start the day with something sweet. And, if what you really want for Valentine’s Day is to pull up the sheets and stay cozy in bed, this chocolatey bread is ideal since it can be made ahead: Prepare the dough and arrange it in the pan a day in advance, let it rise in the refrigerator overnight, then bake it up fresh in the morning. (Just let it come to room temperature before popping it in the oven.)
Breakfast Potatoes

Gaby has perfected the art of the breakfast potato and the morning basic couldn’t be easier to make! Cut small red potatoes into quarters, toss with olive oil and seasonings, then bake in a hot oven for 20 minutes. The tots come out perfectly crisp on the outside and tender in the middle. Use Gaby’s Go To Seasoning Blend for the perfect punch of flavor.
Perfectly Soft Scrambled Eggs

Gaby prides herself on epic, perfectly cooked, soft-scrambled eggs—a talent she generously shares with many of her friends. So much so, that when her husband, Thomas, decided to make scrambled eggs in the microwave on IG stories when she was on book tour, she received multiple messages from friends saying, “ABORT THE TOUR. HEAD HOME IMMEDIATELY. Thomas has gone off the deep end.” Needless to say that even if she might prefer to be pampered by encouraging Thomas to do the cooking on Valentine’s Day, Gaby still takes care of the eggs. Among the secrets to her egg success? A dash of her All Things Egg seasoning whisked into the eggs just before they cook.
