No child should ever have to go hungry in America. Using proven, practical solutions, No Kid Hungry, a campaign of Share Our Strength, is ending childhood hunger today by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. We’ve partnered with them to help connect kids in need to nutritious food. We hope you’ll join us! Take the pledge and add your voice to the national movement to end childhood hunger in this country.
The statistics are sobering: More than 16 million kids — nearly one in five children in America — live in households that struggle to put food on the table. Hungry children are more likely to experience serious short- and long-term health issues, and are more prone to behavioral and emotional struggles.
Through October 2, we’ll be taking donations at the cash registers of all Williams-Sonoma stores (you can also donate online). In addition, we’re offering new products and hosting an array of events to raise money and awareness for the cause.
Help support No Kid Hungry by purchasing one of our exclusive products. This year, we’re excited to bring back our celebrity spatula collection!
Once again, we’ve reached out to a few celebrities to help us design a spatula collection to benefit No Kid Hungry. Each spatula features a reproduction of original artwork. Our 2015 designers, from left to right:
- Michael Voltaggio, Los Angeles-based chef and winner of Top Chef 6
- David Chang, chef and founder of the Momofuku Restaurant Group
- Grace Thomas, American Girl’s 2015 Girl of the Year
- Chef, author, and TV host Tyler Florence and his 8-year-old son, Hayden
- Danica Patrick, race car driver
- Stephanie Izard, Chicago-based chef and winner of Top Chef 4
Williams-Sonoma will donate 30 percent of the retail price from each spatula purchased to No Kid Hungry, plus an additional $5,000 to the chef whose design sells out first. Pick your team by supporting your favorite spatula design — or collect all six! Follow along on social media with @WilliamsSonoma to show us your spat, and see who wins this year’s #spatdown.
Share Our Strength Cupcake Decoration Kit
Thirty percent of the retail price of every purchase of our Share Our Strength Cupcake Decoration Kit benefits the No Kid Hungry campaign. This decorating kit, designed by an award-winning British paper designer, features cupcake toppers in various shapes as well as coordinating paper liners, and makes a fun gift.
Kai My First Knife
Thirty percent of the retail price of every purchase of our Kai My First Knife also benefits the No Kid Hungry campaign. With a serrated rounded-tip blade and a handle shaped to encourage the right grip, this knife is an ideal starter tool for kids who enjoy being in the kitchen.
Throughout the month of September, we’ll also be hosting a number of events in-store to benefit Share Our Strength and No Kid Hungry. For more information, be sure to contact your local store.
