Protein! Fat! Fiber! Greens!
Spring is officially here. You’re likely thinking about overhauling your diet for a brief tune-up. If you’re going to do a “meal replacement shake,” says Kelly LeVeque, make it delicious and as filling as all get out. Her Fab Four™ smoothies deliver for the four reasons above.
The protein (Kelly’s vanilla protein powder) helps you feel satisfied and helps build and maintain healthy cells in the body. Fat (plush avocado) provides energy and a satisfying mouthfeel. Fiber (hi, spinach!) jumpstarts your digestion and helps you feel full longer. And greens are as good for you (vitamins! minerals! antioxidants!) as ever.
Hey, if her recipes are good enough for longtime Kelly client Jessica Alba, maybe they’re good enough for you? (Check out Kelly’s cookbook!)
Some smoothie ingredient lists are outrageously long. With just eight items, this isn’t one of them, and you’ll find most of what you need (cucumbers!) already in your fridge. Swap in the vanilla protein powder you already have on hand, bust out your high-powered blender, and it’s off to the races. Here’s Kelly’s recipe.
Kelly LeVeque’s Spa Smoothie

• 1 handful of spinach
• 1 small Persian cucumber
• 1/4 cup (1/4 oz./7 g) fresh mint leaves
• 1 1/2 cups (12 fl oz./355 ml) unsweetened nut milk
• Ice (optional)
Directions:
In a blender, combine the protein powder, avocado, chia seeds, lemon juice, spinach, cucumber, mint and nut milk. Blend until the desired texture is reached. If desired, add ice and blend again. Serves 1.
