You might be surprised to find that, even for a home entertaining expert like Giada De Laurentiis, the holidays aren’t just about food and cooking. “Gift giving is one of my specialties,” she points out to us. “There’s something about gift giving that I find very personal. I want something that means something to that person, something that they’re really going to use.”

 

That something special might be anything from an edible gift to a pair of monogrammed socks. “I like something they’re not going to buy for themselves, but [something that’s] definitely usable,” she says. “It’s my way of telling someone that I truly care for them. And I hope, at the end of the day, when I give the gift to them, that I get this giant grin from ear to ear, or I see them wearing or using it, or I get a big old hug. At the end of the day, it’s just a bit of recognition and an exchange of friendship and love.”
