Welcome spring with this refreshing sangria, which combines white wine and passion fruit juice with grapes, pears and litchis, a delicately sweet fruit that originated in China.
Spring White Sangria
1 bottle (750 ml) fruity white wine such as Chenin Blanc or Gewürztraminer
1 1/4 cups (10 fl. oz./310 ml) passion fruit juice
1⁄4 cup (2 fl. oz.) fresh lime juice
1 cup (6 oz./185 g) white grapes, seeded and halved
1 cup (6 oz./185 g) Muscat grapes, seeded and halved
1 Asian or Bartlett pear, cored and thinly sliced
1 can (20 oz.) litchis with syrup
2 Tbs. chopped fresh mint
2 Tbs. chopped fresh dill
Ice for serving
In a pitcher, combine the wine, passion fruit and lime juices, grapes, pear, litchis and their syrup, mint and dill. Stir well. Refrigerate until chilled and the flavors have blended, about 2 hours.
To serve, pour the sangria into individual Collins or old-fashioned glasses filled with ice. Serves 6 to 8.

This drink is delicious made with crisp, fruity white wines like the 2014 Bodegas Eidosela Néboa Albariño, Rias Baixas from our Wine Club. |
